The Month Ahead
As winter begins its retreat (slower in Northeast Scotland than other places…) there are a few premieres and performances to look forward to this spring. It begins with the first performance of the string orchestra version of Three Meditations (2023) given by the Kammer Philharmonie Europe in Aberdeenshire on the 20 April. The Three Meditations gets a first full performance of the organ version as part of the LFCCM on the 17 May, with Christus Resurgens also featuring in the festival on the 18th.
Back in Aberdeenshire, Robert Rice and Will Vann will give the premiere of my short song-cycle Silver (2024) on the 25 May (my birthday!) followed by the premiere of my new organ Recessional on O lux beata Trinitas (2024) at Carlisle Cathedral on the 26th. There are further performances of Christus Resurgens (Salisbury, 25/05) and a French premiere of Exsultet (2014) in Saint-Malo by Florence Rousseau (11/05). Looking slightly further ahead, I’m excited to be going to Sweden on the 13 June for the premiere of Agnus Dei (2023) in Stockholm!
