Recordings of my music

All Shall Be Amen

My ongoing collaboration with the Caritas Chamber Choir and conductor Benedict Preece continues with this wonderful release featuring three of my motets: Nunc dimittis (2017), Locus iste (2017) and Ubi Caritas (2022). The recording also features pieces by leading composers such as Gabriel Jackson and Cecilia McDowall as well as a motet by the choir’s conductor Benedict Preece. This lovely recording is available to download and stream from all the usual places from the 06 October.

30/09/2023: Nice early review (in Spanish) from Ritmo. No mention of my works particularly, but nice comments on the disc such as ‘[the choir] confirm themselves as one of the bravest and most daring choirs in terms of the selected repertoire.’ ‘Caritas Chamber Choir excels…always offering a beautiful choral sound with a wide dynamic palette, and with scrupulous attention to phrasing and articulation.’ Nice.

04/11/2023: Another nice review, form Textura (in Canada): ‘The first of three Cooke pieces, Ubi Caritas weaves voices into a melodically stirring tapestry, with the soloing of soprano Catherine Futcher and bass David Peirson rising above the vocal mass. In his second setting, the atmospheric Nunc dimittis, Cooke backs the solo singing of bass Graham Titus with humming and exploits vocal polyphony as the choir builds to a glorious climax.’
